Luna Rustica displays at Avila La Fonda Hotel

As some of you know, Luna Rustica contributed to the wonderful furniture and decor that gives Avila La Fonda it’s authentic Mexican feel. La Fonda turned to Luna Rustica for built-ins, custom pillars, doors, decor and lighting. The hotel located one block from Avila Beach has 28 rooms that mix classic Mexican style with modern luxury. It is by far one of the best boutique hotels on the central coast.

Recently Luna has been showcasing different decor at La Fonda. Come in and see if you can spot our signature pieces, as well as to check out this beautiful hotel, I’m sure they will even let you tour a room if you’re nice!

Dias De Los Muertos

Not only is Halloween approaching but so is one of Mexico’s largest holidays, Dias De Los Muertos. This celebration occurs on November 1st, and 2nd. Traditions include building altars honoring deceased loved ones. They use sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visit their graves with these as gifts. The purpose of this holiday is to celebrate and respect family and friends that have passed. The Catrina skeleton is one of the most recognizable figures of the Day of the Dead celebrations.

Here at Luna we are celebrating with our own homemade altar and Catrinas galore. We also have a display in downtown San Luis Obispo at Arts Obispo in the Creamery. Here are some photos as well as a link to a video and more information about this wonderful Mexican tradition.

Here at Luna we are more than happy to loan decor to a local event. Tolosa Winery in San Luis Obispo put on a beautiful winemaker dinner in the vineyards during the Savor weekend. Our vases, candelabras and lamps and side tables set the mood for what was a truely magical night in the vineyard.

A new shipment will be arriving in soon!!! The Mexican half of the Luna crew is loading up in Guadalajara and a shipment is about ready to make the long journey to us on the central coast. We will be re-stocked in all of our most popular items and have also designed many new furniture pieces to keep things fresh and interesting for all our loyal customers. We travel all throughout central and southern Mexico to bring you the most varied, high quality merchandise we can and this new load will be no exception.
